The fierce and lively Lion Dance is an art form that beautifully mixes dance, music, and martial arts into a single performance. It is a traditional dance in Chinese culture, and for many communities worldwide, the sight of the dancing lion raising its head to thundering drums reminds them of home.
Passing down the Lion Dance from generation to generation is an ancient tradition. Sifu Harlan Lee, the owner of Gee Yung International Martial Arts Dragon and Lion Dance Sports Association, is part of a continuing legacy of Shaolin kung fu. Sifu Lee is passionate about teaching his students this style of kung fu in their Lion dance.
Thanks to everyone at Gee Yung Chinese Martial Arts, Dragon & Lion Dance Sports Association for allowing me to capture these dynamic images.
